Are The Philadelphia Flyers Trying to Trade For Patrik Laine?—Also Winnipeg Jets NHL Info And NHL Trade Rumors 2021

So throughout this offseason we’ve had several talks on the philadelphia flyers a lot of this stuff mostly stems from the idea of them going out there and getting a point-producing goal scoring forward and as a result we’ve had several discussions with different names we had some articles talking about johnny gadro from the calgary flames patrick kane from the chicago blackhawks the most recent one was about william nylander of the toronto maple leafs but there has indeed been a name that we did indeed include in some of these discussions but never actually made it the primal focus in this article today we’re talking about winnipeg jets franchise goal scorer patrick liney because yesterday we had ourselves a piece published onto nbcsports.com philadelphia so it’s the nbc philly version of nbc sports and if you take a look at this article published by jordan hall the title kind of says it all over here the interest in patrick liney no change on mike hoffman and more in these three flyers thoughts so it goes over three separate ideas over here in this article and the first one is patrick line a so let’s go into what exactly this article has to say because when it comes to the winnipeg jets 2016 second overall pick there indeed is a very big focus on patrick lainey jetstar patrick line is one of the biggest names if not the biggest name on the trade market second on tsn’s trade bait list etc etc the flyers have indeed had interest in patrick laney a source told nbc sports philly on wednesday night in early october the athletics pier lebron reported the flyers and the jets had trade discussions about line a but that those talks could now back in october we did have quite a few differing ideas going around patrick liney with different teams we spoke about the carolina hurricanes the columbus blue jackets the philadelphia flyers were indeed included in this conversation as well but the sentiment we saw from these other teams i believe it was carolina that just didn’t want to pay the price for a patrick liney columbus apparently didn’t have the assets that the winnipeg jets would say yes to the philadelphia flyers were in a similar boat and we also had the montreal canadiens where mark bergervan came on record and he was like yeah no patrick line a taylor hall the price for these guys it’d be way too high so we’re not gonna go after it that’s it plain and simple but this article says that on wednesday night which is december 16th there has been a source that confirmed that yes the lineage camp has indeed been contacted by the philadelphia flyers it’s uncertain when or if talks could rekindle between winnipeg and philadelphia but don’t expect the philadelphia flyers interest to suddenly or completely evaporate the interest could pick up back during the 2020 2021 campaign when there’s a greater feel for the season in general team needs and the value of trade ships as well as a possibility of a greater pressure to add now this indeed is a very interesting idea because as the season goes on we are gonna see a differing landscape of the nhs economical environment plus the fact that the actual season is gonna go on we’re gonna actually see how the philadelphia flyers are going to adapt one of the biggest things they had going for them in the return to play before the actual postseason began was that they were seen by many as the cup favorites they had the number one seed in the east they were doing all this stuff scoring all these goals winning all these games but then when the actual playoffs began hey they stopped scoring montreal they were barely able to beat montreal because carterhart was amazing then in the second round against the islanders well they just completely crapped the bed so for the philadelphia flyers they were in a spot where it’s been a big need for them goal scoring point producing it’s why we spoke about these guys earlier quadro kane kneelander patrick liney these are guys that can help make a difference when it comes to the offensive production on the scoresheet and if it’s a patrick liner you want playing this guy alongside of a sean couturier or whatever oh my goodness play patrick lione somewhere in the top line you need to do that because the big problem that patrick lione had with the winnipeg jets in general was that he was a first-line caliber franchise goal scoring talent being played on the second line and he didn’t like that it’s why his camp came out here and said a trade may be mutually beneficial it’s why finnish media came out here saying whether or not it’s a trade or free agency or whatever patrick lainey will leave the winnipeg jets sooner rather than later and if you take a look at the overall situation of patrick lioney and his contract well he indeed does have one more year at 6.75 million dollars a season if you go over to cap friendly page of the philadelphia flyers hey right now the flyers have a boatload of cap space it’s 2.261 million dollars next season they’re going to have a projected 18.7 million dollars they have some good guys to resign carter hart brian elliott then you have the bigger fish like claw giroux in two years as well as sean couturier so there certainly could be some questions travis anheim is another name in this conversation as well a 3.25 million dollar aav until 2021 for him but who knows if a philadelphia flyers team is going to go out there and trade away agas despair or whatever because his name has been in these conversations for years 4.5 million dollars on cap right there we know the winnipeg jets need defense hey the flyers have some good defenders proverbs at 6.75 you’re probably not going to get rid of him to be honest you have that travis stanheim who he mentioned we have philippe myers who is making 2.55 until 2023 honestly i think that’s a pretty good contract for a guy like him and what he brings to the table of course though you’re going to need a forward replacement for a patrick lione going back on a trade who knows if it’s a jvr or kevin hayes or a connect knee or whatever these guys are making seven seven point one five point five million dollars you have oscar lin blum who is over here making three million dollars awesome to see him cancer free by the way for a full year big big props to the guy but the philadelphia flyers in my opinion do have a little bit more flexibility when it comes to their overall offensive package especially with some of these guys on the payroll when you have guys like morgan frost joel farabee you have that nolan patrick whom you really want to come back in here and start taking the spotlight once again it all of a sudden puts some of these other guys in the top of your lineup on top of the payroll at least expendable to an extent in my opinion if you have patrick lana on your squad are you moving jacob voracek down to the second line you’re going to have to do that in some capacity because patrick lainey’s not going to accept playing on the second line anymore it’s why he even wants out from winnipeg play this guy with a sean couturier and a claudia roo or you can spread out the wealth have claudiaro playing alongside a connect knee and have oscar lindblom playing with kachoria and lione and have voracek doing his thing with a jvr that’s probably not the best way to go about things but it’s just spitting some ideas out there and furthermore let’s say you decide to make this trade a little bit later on how does a guy like bobby brink for example play into this conversation he’s a very good ncaa point scorer who is a top philadelphia flyers prospect maybe you wait a year and you say okay the winnipeg jets need defense hey we got a nice defender who is graduating out of the ncaa and cam york who might be nhl ready as soon as 2021 2022 maybe you guys go for that the flyers are in a position where i’m honestly a very big fan i’ve been a huge fan of the prospects that the philadelphia flyers have acquired over the past few seasons and as a result it puts them in a position of strength because they have so much bargaining power when it comes to a team like winnipeg who is saying they’re only going to trade patrick lainey if they get a trade that makes their team better now making their team better doesn’t necessarily mean including the better players on the other side a trade for example of patrick lydia in exchange for a nice prospect in bobby brink and a guy like i don’t know philippe meyers for example sure the philadelphia flyers are in theory winning that trade by a long shot because patrick lainey is so gosh darn good and gosh darn valuable but if you’re throwing a bobby brink into your top six by the time 2021 2022 rolls around and you have a philippe myers in your back end too it makes the team better than if you just had a patrick liney so it’s kind of weird talking about how just because a player can win a team a trade doesn’t necessarily mean the other team who is losing the player is worse off because of it so there certainly are some different aspects which is a big caveat that i don’t think we have actually explored here there certainly is in my opinion at least a very valuable discussion to have about it because the flyers were one of those teams that were going hard after patrick line a like two months ago and now we have an article saying that yeah they’re still interested so if it comes to that patrick laney over to philadelphia talk to me in the comments what you would think a suitable return would be because if you’re a philly fan you might say okay well i wouldn’t touch this guy i wouldn’t touch that guy would prefer not to give up cam york i love this guy but you know who knows if we even really need a line after all because voracek’s over there too i will say though the only reason why you guys are even having these discussions is because he didn’t score any goals in the playoffs so patrick kane johnny gadro patrick lainey nylander who knows who is gonna be next in line in these conversations but if it’s winnipeg what exactly are you giving up over here and furthermore if you’re a jets fan what do you want back from the flyers we’ve already spoken about this but you don’t necessarily need to win the trade in order to make your team better because patrick lione is a young youthful star who has got so much potential and so much value it’s just you guys are not playing him on the first line whether or not that’s a fact that you want to accept or want to condemn paul maurice for or whatever is irrelevant it’s just kind of how it is so tell me in the comments all your thoughts about this i hope you enjoyed this article as well.
